In an ongoing show of support, Navy Health recently donated a significant $100,000 to the Navy’s own charity, ‘Keeping Watch’ of which Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond, AO, RAN is the Patron. Navy Health’s noteworthy contribution will provide a substantial boost to enable Keeping Watch to achieve their mission of supporting Navy People and their families in times of need.

The donation underscores the strong bond between Navy Health and the Navy. Navy Health’s commitment to serve our Navy People, offering support when needed most, to make a meaningful difference remains unwavering. The official cheque was presented to the Chief of Navy at a ceremony attended by Mr Ron Wilson Chief Executive Officer of Navy Health Ltd, CDRE Michael Miko (Rtd) Director, RADM Michael van Balen (Rtd) Chairman, and RADM Adam Grunsell (Rtd) (former Chairman).

Chairman of Keeping Watch, CDRE Eric Young attended the presentation and expressed his sincere gratitude saying “Keeping Watch is a demonstration of Navy’s commitment to our People and the amazing families that support them. It has been a beacon of hope for many since it was established in 2013, easing the stress of financial and emotional hardship”. He further stated “Navy Health’s valued contribution will significantly increase our ability to support our People who are facing challenging circumstances, often at their most difficult time, and ultimately avoid a situation that leads to them spiralling into a personal crisis.”

As a not-for-profit health fund that care about the wellbeing of their members, Navy Health supports people beyond our Navy community. Navy Health is an option for serving and ex-serving ADF members, their families, and more broadly those working for companies that supply our Defence Forces.

Through the divisional system, Keeping Watch is regularly called upon to consider assistance to a wide range of Navy People, each with a different story to tell. As the official Navy Charity, donations to Keeping Watch are always most welcome and are tax deductable. Please consider making Keeping Watch your Ship’s Charity of choice!

WHAT DO OUR NAVY FAMILIES SAY?

  • M Bult - HMAS Hobart

When there was an unfortunate circumstance that resulted in financial hardship for a family member, Keeping Watch was eager to help out as much as possible. My divisional staff were more than accommodating to ensure that I understood the process, and between them and the Keeping Watch team I was constantly reassured that the help my family desperately needed at the time was being organised. Keeping Watch is the light at the end of the tunnel, you just need to reach out and ask for the help.

I cannot thank Keeping Watch for helping us in our time of need. We were struggling with living expenses after a death in the family and I found out about Keeping Watch. I'm so glad I conatcted them to see how they could help. They were amazing throughout and the money could not have come at a better time. We are now moving forward positively and looking to the future. Thank you so much.

I would highly recommend Keeping Watch if you need financial help and are a Navy family. We experienced an unexpected family crisis and we were struggling to meet daily living expenses and child care costs. Keeping Watch helped us through this difficult situation with a grant and offered some very valuable advise on how to deal with the loss. If you need help, contact Keeping Watch.
